SUCCESS!

The digital stuff looks GREAT! Better than I could've hoped for. It has the exact style I wanted without the hassle of actually cutting things out myself with glue and yarn and stuff. I can move forward sooner than I thought already, constructing the digital sets for the actors.

Moving Forward

I think I want to start on a dramatic/comedic narrative (whatever it ends up being) about sailors on a ship, that will use my new knowledge of motion to create a very stylized effect. Like I said at the beginning of the year, it will be Michel Gondry-esque using papery looking animation but with real people mixed in. It will be based on a script (a short story actually) that I already wrote. Today I am going to do a bunch of tests with motion to try and get the look I want and decide if it can be computer generated or if I need to go out and actually start chopping up construction paper. The tests should be done either today or next class and after that I will start creating the sets either digitally or physically depending on what I decide from the tests. I will do that for a week and then begin filming hopefully on the 15th. I already have music for it because Ben Mead (you remember him right!?) already actually composed music based on the story. I have got some costumes already and have cast one person who is on board to do it. Hopefully I'll have a finished product sometime in mid January.
