Finished the third scene! It looks great. I learned a new trick in Motion too. In order to make something follow a path of say... a stream, which is an important animation when dealing with ships, you can simply change a feature in the options of the motion path behaviour and make it follow.

I finished the second scene today and put it in final cut and added all the sound effects. The project has been slow but is beginning to pick up now that I am getting more acquainted with Motion's complexities and am learning a lot as I go. The next couple scenes should go quicker and soon I should be able to film and record voice over dialogue.

I have been finishing up the opening scene for a while, the motion project is getting quite complex but I am progressing everyday. I've totally got a new respect for special effects artists. I will have the opening done today and can move on to new backdrops which should take less time and go quicker. I've begun to write the narrator's script so I have a guideline as to where I'm going and hopefully I can build up a base of created material to the point where I can begun to re-use it to expediate the process of creating the motion files. For example, I spent a lot of time constructing my ship for the film, and now that it's made, I can re-use that (it will be featured a lot) without having to spend anymore time building it.
